Florida Map -› WestCentral -› Tarpon Springs

On this quiet road of Lincoln in the Charlestown area of Tarpon Springs, one can almost envision the beautiful residence that Rev. George Washington Archie II designed. It is now timeworn and surrounded by a tree and shrub covered lot, but it does not take much imagination to turn it back to its glory days. Long ago across from this house stood another that the Rev. brought his family and four year old foster son, Samuel Archie, to live in. (Photo: Carol Mountain)

Description
Rev. George Washington Archie II was to be the minister at Mt. Moriah A.M.E. Church, a church which had a fine location, that being Pine and Eagle, now Pinellas Ave., but whose structure consisted of a building made of boards and sawdust floors with a tree and trunk pulpit and a makeshift altar. He used his schooling at Howard Academy, an architectural school, to draw the floor plans for the church which is no longer standing and the home which still stands as testament to his scholastic skills. There is no public access to this building.
